New corporate interior for BSI (The British Standards Institute) South Africa, Menlyn Maine, Pretoria
After having to cancel the services of the original design team on the project, Nuclei was contracted to propose and implement a contemporary design within a very tight deadline to prevent the client from incurring additional loss of income and aborted rental. The space was designed to be clean and minimalistic, making use of only black and white with red accents, in line with BSI’s standards and corporate identity.
The design capitalises on ample light in the space by making use of glass dividing walls and allowing the light to reflect off white surfaces. The use of both sheer and carefully positioned block-out blinds furthermore allows the light to be manipulated, changing it from stark to diffused or removing it entirely to facilitate the use of audio visual equipment in training.
Since the space can be converted into a training facility at short notice, maximum flexibility is allowed by designing for and promoting reconfiguration of desks and seating spaces.
