The owners, both gardening enthusiasts, invested considerable effort in clearing invasive species and overgrown areas to establish a vibrant, inspiring outdoor space. The natural topography of the 2400m² property and existing building placement created natural divisions into “exterior rooms,” which were enhanced to develop distinct areas with unique styles and characters.

Structured pathways with semi-formal borders and water features create a journey with focal points from the motor court to the entrance. The garden’s abundant mature trees dictated shade-tolerant planting while providing an immediate sense of establishment. Hard surfaces were softened or broken into varied materials to add interest to the black slate pathways and verandas. Multiple water features support habitats for frogs and fish, while the garden attracts diverse bird species. Over 50 different wind chimes contribute to the sensory experience, especially during gentle evening breezes.

The landscape design draws inspiration from Australian approaches, featuring primarily tropical plantings and circular design elements.
